TEACHING
“I cannot recommend Freya as a singing teacher highly enough. My son adores her lessons and her knowledge and experience shines through in him. Can’t wait to see how he progresses!” - Josie D ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“I am enjoying my singing lessons with Freya immensely! Freya is an excellent teacher inspiring confidence in my own voice and helping me build skills at a pace that works perfectly. She has been accommodating to my preferences when it comes to pieces I wanted to learn but also had some brilliant choices of pieces, which have helped me develop my voice beyond what I thought possible.” - Lena B.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Freya is extremely kind, talented and so supportive. Coming from someone who had little to no singing experience, she has made me feel so comfortable ever since the first lesson and has taught me so much already! She always keeps our lessons fun and light hearted and I can’t wait to keep progressing further with her. Highly recommend. - Maria A.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I wanted to take singing lessons for a long time but was nervous and self conscious about doing so. But, with Freya as a tutor I needn't have worried. She put me at ease from the first moment. She is talented, friendly and encouraging and has taught me so much already. I would thoroughly recommend her. - Helen M. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Freya is very personable teacher, great structure to lessons and really helps to focus the student on areas they require to mature their singing skills. Our daughter who can be a little shy took an instant like to Freya and very much enjoyed the lessons. thank you ! - Jason B.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hello!
Welcome to Freya’s Singing Studio!
I offer private singing lessons in Chesham, South Buckinghamshire, for children and adults of all levels.
If you’re not local, I also offer online lessons.
I am so glad you’re thinking about starting music lessons
- I’d be delighted to hear from you.
A little about me…
I began singing as a child and instantly fell in love with it. Since then, music has taken me on quite a journey: from performing on London’s West End as a child, to classical choral singing as an adult; from opera to interdisciplinary music-making during my Masters in the Netherlands; and now to singing lead and playing keys in a band I co-run with my business partner, while also managing our music events business. These varied experiences have shaped me deeply as both a performer and a teacher, and have helped me grow into the musician and artist I am today.
Freya also teaches singing at JAM Theatre Company in South Buckinghamshire, alongside her work as a private singing teacher based in Chesham. Freya also grew up in the local area, attending Cartridge Combined School, The Misbourne School, and Chesham Grammar School. Before leaving to pursue her Master’s degree, Freya taught singing at The Misbourne School, Egerton Rothesay, Sargent and Plester School of Dance, and more.

.What I can offer you…
Across 10 years of teaching, I’ve grown and shaped my approach to support each student as an individual, adapting lessons to help them learn in the way that suits them best.
My teaching focuses on building healthy, reliable vocal technique so students can sing freely and without limitation. I help singers remove habits that restrict their voice and develop a sound that feels natural and confident.
Through lessons, I work on building confidence and helping students uncover their own authentic musical voice. I believe this is an essential skill for any student to develop, whether in their personal lives or if they choose to enter the music industry themselves.
I care deeply about creating a supportive environment where students feel safe to explore their voice. Many singers come to lessons feeling nervous or unsure of themselves, and I take pride in helping them grow in confidence as well as skill.
A good lesson for me is one where the student enjoys the process, leaves singing better than when they arrived, and feels motivated to keep improving. I love working with students who are passionate and curious, and who bring that enthusiasm into their practice and learning.
Do we sound like a good fit?

Studio Policy

I am passionate about creating a supportive environment where students feel safe to explore their voice with creativity and freedom. It is my wish to encourage students to discover their own authentic voice through their musical learning, with input based on their interests and personal goals. My approach is student-led and tailored to each student’s specific learning needs.

Students are expected to arrive to each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with any necessary materials (such as lyric sheets or musical scores). A piano will be provided in the studio for piano lessons.
If needed, there is free on-street parking outside the studio. Please ring the doorbell at the start of your lesson time, as there is unfortunately no waiting room. Please also remove shoes when entering the studio. Socks are required.
To make steady progress, daily practice is essential. Please feel free to ask questions about home assignments or practice requirements so that students and parents are fully aligned.
Parents: If anything is happening at home or school that may be affecting your child, please let me know. The more information I have, the more effectively I can support and respond to your child’s needs.
If you would like your child to be entered for examinations, please let me know.
If any performance or audition opportunities arise, please bring the details to the next lesson so I can support your student in preparing effectively.
Piano students must have access to their own instrument at home for practice. If you have any questions or would like guidance on purchasing an instrument, please don’t hesitate to ask.

In signing up to the studio, you are reserving your weekly time slot over 30 weeks of the year, over 10 months, charged at a flat monthly tuition rate.
There are no lessons and no charges in August and December. The monthly tuition fee is charged in every other month of the year.
Tuition invoices will be sent on the 1st of each month prior for all enrolled students. All payments are non refundable. After the first payment, invoicing and payment will run automatically. Tuition will be drawn on the 1st of each month from the payment method on file.
-
Lessons canceled with under 24 hours' notice will not be eligible for a make-up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours' notice will be credited as a make-up lesson for that month.
Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible. Teacher cancellations outside of the guaranteed 30 annual lessons will be rescheduled within 30 days.
Make up lessons:
Make up lessons will be issued if I am notified of a lesson cancellation at least 24hrs in advance. Make up lessons will be arranged in the same week if possible, and at least by the following month in which the studio is open. Please note that it is up to you to communicate whether you would like a make up lesson due to a cancellation, and this must be used by the end of the following month.
Pausing or ending lessons:
To end lesson enrolment for the next month, written notification must be received via email by the 15th of the current month. If notice is not received by the deadline, the full tuition amount will be automatically charged on the first of the month, and students will have the option to attend all paid lessons that month. Lessons will then be canceled for the following month. Tuition payments are non-refundable.
-
Each student is responsible for purchasing the required music and materials for lessons. Materials will be assigned by me and the student will be expected to have the materials no later than two weeks after the materials have been assigned. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.

When students enrol, they are reserving a dedicated place in the studio. I generally seek students who are interested in making a long-term commitment to their vocal development.
Students are expected and encouraged to practise for at least 20–30 minutes a day throughout the week. Consistent practice (for example, 20 minutes each day rather than three hours on a Sunday evening) is far more beneficial to a student’s overall progress and development.
-
From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or around the studio. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.
-
Current studio hours are Mon - Thu 12pm - 9pm.
Please allow at least 24hrs for a response to communication during the week.
Communication outside of the studio operating hours may have a longer response time, and all weekend communication will be answered the following Monday.
Whatsapp or Email is my preferred method of communication
-
From September, I will provide a yearly timetable of proposed teaching weeks.
Please note: as the 30 week policy allows for flexibility, there may be a small number of additional studio closures announced closer to the time, depending on any performing commitments that may arise. These will always be communicated with as much notice as possible, and make up lessons will be issued. Please see cancellation policy above.
